Change Your UVB tubes/Lamps Often - Remember you need to replace your UVB tube regularly to ensure your herps are getting exposed to UVB light ... Some need changing as often as every six months. How old is your tube? P.S. Light will still emit even if it is not emitting UVB - it still needs replacing even if it still lights up.

Inquisitive Children? Do you enjoy your children interacting with your reptile, but rather it be done only when you are around? Use a vivarium lock to keep your herps safe.

Are you squeamish? Love the reptile? Hate the Livefood? Introducing the Kricket Keeper... Somewhere to keep and feed your crickets, when its time to feed your herp, simply remove the tube and tap the crickets out!

What size cricket should I feed?! Here is a useful rule to follow if you are unsure what size livefoods to give to your herp: Try and match the size of the food to the gap between the eyes on your herp, no bigger.

Snake Not Eating? - Heres one factor that may be contributing to your snakes loss of appetite: your snakes hide. Ensure its snug enough so that it touches most of his body when hes hiding away. UV What?! Be very careful when buying UV lights for your herps. Recently we discovered a case where a terrapin keeper had been sold a UVC light instead of UVA/B by an aquatics & reptile outlet. Tortoises Die Young in Vivariums & Glass Tanks - standard reptile vivariums dont provide enough ventilation and fish tanks are completely unsuitable too. Keep your tortoise outdoors in a secure pen and get a tortoise table incase they need to be indoors.

Thermostats Help Prevent Death - thermostats are essential in all setups.
